6 days of flying, sharing weight, playfulness and creation

This Intensive offers strong foundational training in partnering, an in-depth insight into the creative process of MAMM and a warm, collaborative and playful environment. Situated in the beautiful natural surroundings of Şirince, this week is an opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the work, slow down, connect and take the next steps in your partnering practice.

The morning sessions are dedicated to training and skill-building. Each day begins with a warm-up focused on partner work, establishing physical readiness, trust, and connection within the group.

You’ll explore the foundations of partnering and weight sharing, gradually expanding into dynamic skills such as jumping, group work and climbing. During the week we’ll build up through progressive lifting structures, working from simple to more complex lifts with personal guidance and feedback.

In the afternoon these skills are brought into practice through repertoire and creative assignments. You will learn and embody duet repertoire from MAMM and take part in a creative process guided by Maxime & Mees. Through creative tasks drawn from previous MAMM creations, you will explore new tools and approaches to site-specific work and partner work. The natural and architectural surroundings of STOA become the playground for our creative laboratory.

Evenings offer time for bonfire talks and gentle strolls in nature, supporting exchange and connection beyond the studio. The week concludes with an informal (closed) sharing of the created work to reflect and celebrate the collaborative journey.

What to expect:

- Special dynamic skills such as jumping, group work and climbing

- Learning and practicing lift sequences

The afternoon sessions will be focused on creation and creativity:

- Repertoire material of MAMM

- Creative assignments for partnerwork

- Site specific creation tools and composition ideas

- Guided group jams and improvisation

Evenings are for resting and connecting

- Free time to explore the area

- Enjoying delicious fresh communal meals

- Activities such as bonfire talks, evening walks and movie nights (optional)

Location:

Nestled near the village of Şirince, STOA is a creative retreat in peaceful natural surroundings. With its traditional monastery style - including a lush inner courtyard, an amphitheatre, beautiful halls and magnificent views - it’s a perfect place for creative exploration, reflection and artistic exchange.

There will be free time to explore the area. We are situated in beautiful mountain surroundings, perfect for refreshing summer evening walks. The idyllic village of Şirince is just a ten-minute walk away and offers a charming atmosphere with small cobblestone streets and cafés. You can also discover the incredible ancient ruins of Ephesus, or explore the surrounding mountain villages with their farmers’ markets, mosques and everyday local life.

Transport:

Fly into Izmir Airport (ADB). Şirince is approximately 1 hour by car or 1 hour 15 min with public transport. STOA is located at a 10 minutes walk from Şirince. Airport transfers can be arranged.
