Between darkness and light
Butoh is a Japanese avant-garde contemporary dance. It originated after the Second World War, as a reaction to the horror of war and an act of resistance towards the modern society’s forms and values, coming from the United States. Its aim is not to reach some canonic ideals or to represent forms, but to connect to our life source, through a deep acceptance and listening of the body.
In the workshop we will work on how to embody images. We will seek for our inner fragile, true and unknown places, exploring different phases between inner and outer space.
Constantly supported by live music, this research will lead our physical bodies into a sensitive and deep-present way of movement and expression.
Because, as our physical body can dance with forms, materials and spaces, our presence can dance with energies, memories, and feelings.
